A mother and her son have been found dead.
Mpumalanga Police are investigating the death of a 36-year-old woman and her three-year-old son.
Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala said concerned neighbors alerted police after discovering their lifeless bodies at their home in Nhlazatshe, Section 4, on Tuesday.
Police found an electrical cable next to the woman’s body, while her son was in the bathroom with a foam-like substance in his mouth.
“Unfortunately, both were certified dead at the scene. Police are investigating a murder case with an additional inquiry charge,” Mohlala said Wednesday.
Mpumalanga Police Commissioner Lt Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela expressed shock and urged residents struggling over the festive season to seek professional help.
Manamela said investigators were working around the clock to establish the circumstances of the deaths.
