An 11-year-old Washington state police dog will retire Thursday after nearly ten years of stellar service helping his partner apprehend more than 100 suspects.

Together, K-9 Hobbs and his partner, Sgt. Jason Robinson, responded to more than 500 calls, apprehended about 166 suspects and found 113 pieces of evidence, according to the Edmonds Police Department.

“Hobbs was an asset to law enforcement throughout Snohomish and North King County, fearlessly pursuing suspects who fled into the community,” the Edmonds Police Department said in a news release.

Hobbs was an asset to law enforcement in Snohomish and King counties, fearlessly pursuing fleeing suspects.

One of the highlights of his career included the 2017 arrest of two gunmen who had committed an armed robbery of a business on Mountlake Terrace. Hobbs and Robinson searched for several hours in a heavy storm, refusing to leave until the suspects were apprehended.

Hobbs also regularly attended public events and did countless demonstrations for schools and the community.

“He’s taken care of me for years, and now it’s my turn to take care of him as he becomes just a dog.” said Sergeant Robinson. “Like most former K-9 handlers, I’m sure I’ll walk the halls of PD telling glorious stories of our past 500+ deployments.”
