United Kingdom Ambassador to Liberia, Neil Bradley, visited Contec Global’s Resident Permit office in Monrovia, joined by Liberia’s Commissioner General for Immigration, Hon. Stephen Zargo; Anil Mathew, Vice President of Contec Global; and Veronica Monte, Regional Head for Business Development at Contec Global. This visit highlights the growing collaboration between the UK and Liberia, particularly in advancing digital services.

Contec Global, a UK-based company, has been contracted by the Government of Liberia to digitize the Alien Resident Permit system, transitioning from a manual process to a fully digital platform. The contract, awarded in October 2021, is based on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, requiring no initial investment from the Liberian government.

Ambassador Bradley expressed his support, stating, “It’s encouraging to see a British company contributing to Liberia’s digital transformation, paving the way for improved services and transparency.”

The project, officially launched in October 2023, enables streamlined applications for Resident Permits, including biometric captures using secure tablets in remote areas. “We are committed to enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring a seamless experience for all applicants,” said Commissioner Zargo.

Contec Global’s investment includes 30 new motorbikes and 20 vehicles, enhancing the Liberia Immigration Service’s enforcement capabilities. The digitized system also facilitates secure payments through partnerships with Ecobank Liberia Ltd.

With plans to extend their services, Contec Global aims to bolster its presence across Liberia. As Ambassador Bradley noted, “This initiative is just the beginning; we look forward to seeing further UK-Liberia partnerships flourish as this will contribute to increased economic growth for both countries.”
