His ex-girlfriend told police that he found out about his relationship with Wood in late December when she was still with LaMountain, and that he used a location-sharing app to discover that she was at Wood’s home.
She admitted to cheating on LaMountain and broke up with him on January 8.
Two days later, according to court documents, she was at Wood’s home when she received a text from LaMountain that read, “I told you what I would do if you ever cheated on me and I still have his address.”

When she asked him if he would kill her, he replied, “Not you.” He then sent her photos of a gun and a screenshot from a ride-sharing app that showed her driving to Wood’s house.
She warned Wood about the messages, but he said he didn’t think LaMountain was a threat and insisted she come home, according to the affidavit.
While on his way home, he received a call from LaMountain saying that he shot Wood and believed the victim was dead.

She then called the police, and LaMountain was arrested a short time later in connection with the murder.
LaMountain told police after his arrest that Wood was standing in his front yard when he hit Wood over the head with a pistol. Wood turned to run and LaMountain shot him until his gun was empty. He considered reloading his firearm before deciding to flee the area.
