A shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, on Tuesday night, left several people dead and several injured.
A police spokesperson said Chesapeake police responded to an “active shooter” call at the store located along Battlefield Blvd. at approximately 10:12 p.m. When they arrived, they coordinated with a tactical team to enter the the store, where they found several bodies, the spokesman said.
The shooting occurred inside the store, but police have yet to provide information on the number of those affected by the shooting. The death toll is believed to be less than 10 people, according to local news outlet WAVY-TV 10.
Police also believe the lone shooter is dead. The spokesman did not specify if the shooter was a store employee.

Photos and videos from the scene show about 40 emergency vehicles in the parking lot.
Police are urging people to avoid the area as they continue to sweep the store and conduct their investigation. Members of the public who know someone who works at the store or who may have been affected are directed to go to the Chesapeake Conference Center.
