Moscow has threatened to confiscate all property and finances from companies in occupied areas of Ukraine that refuse to comply with a recent ruble mandate, the Kyiv resistance website warned on Tuesday.
Russia ordered all local companies and businesses to make sales using the Russian currency in an attempt to ban the Ukrainian hryvnia earlier this month, according to the National Resistance of Ukraine, a website created by the Ukrainian armed forces in March to alert citizens to war related updates. .

The website claimed earlier this month that Russian forces in the occupied areas “attacked” local businesses that refused to delist and sell items in the Ukrainian hryvnia.
Russian forces have apparently been more successful in forcing larger companies to comply with the ruble order, though smaller companies continue to resist.
Kyiv urged citizens and businesses still in occupied areas such as Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk and Kherson to evacuate in order to safely evade Russian repercussions.
But the government website also noted “practical advice” it has for its citizens to nonviolently oppose Russian forces, which linked to a page listing a number of methods of resistance, including a post detailing ” 198 methods of nonviolent actions”.

The list references American author and political scientist Gene Sharp, who wrote “Nonviolent Action Policy” in 1973 and included suggestions ranging from nonviolent protest to economic boycotts.
The National Resistance page also included a post on “How to carry out internal sabotage behind the occupier’s rear,” detailing destructive measures Ukrainian citizens could take to oppose Russian troops in their areas.
The list ranged from relatively trivial acts of sabotage like damaging power lines, tripping electrical systems by putting coins in light bulb sockets, and damaging heavy machinery by loosening bolts and screws to more dangerous ideas like leaving oil containers in a corner that could easily be ignited with “Just a cigarette butt thrown away by you.”

“Your imagination will help you. But as we always emphasize, before proceeding to sabotage the work, first of all, take care of your safety,” the website said.
Kyiv has said it will seek to drive out Russian forces and end the nearly 11-month war by the end of 2023.
