A group of nearly 200 friends and family members came together to support Shanquella Robinson’s family in North Carolina over the weekend as her father spoke about the moment he first saw his daughter at the funeral home.
“When I looked in that coffin, and I saw the knot … the cut on his lip, I know for a fact that he was done some physical harm,” Bernard Robinson said at a rally on Saturday about welcoming his 25-year-old son. the body of her daughter, Shanquella, at a funeral home following her death in late October under mysterious circumstances,” the Charlotte Observer reported.
Robinson told the rally, organized by the Million Youth March Of Charlotte & Salisbury Teen Advisory Board, that her daughter had a large lump on her head along with a cut, swollen lip.
“Dad just stood there crying like a baby,” Robinson said. “I sat there and said, ‘Baby, Daddy will do you justice.'”

Robinson was found dead at the Fundadores beach club in San José del Cabo on October 29 after traveling to the tourist area with six friends the day before. Robinson’s group of friends initially told his family that she had been ill with alcohol poisoning before she died.
However, Mexican authorities later issued an arrest warrant for one of the women traveling with Robinson after video surfaced on social media of Robinson being beaten by an unknown woman in a hotel room in Mexico and an autopsy concluded he died from “direct assault” involving serious injury in the spinal cord.
“This case is fully clarified, we even have a court order, there is an arrest warrant issued for the crime of femicide to the detriment of the victim and against an alleged perpetrator, a friend of hers who is the direct aggressor,” Baja said. Southern California prosecutor Daniel de la Rosa Anaya, according to ABC News.

While Robinson’s death certificate suggests that he died within 15 minutes of sustaining the neck injury, Charlotte Observer Reports that a local hospital doctor was with Robinson and his fellow travelers for nearly three hours in their hotel room before he died.
Robinson’s mother, Sallamondra Robinson, told The Independent that she has not been able to contact her daughter’s friends who went to Mexico with her since before autopsy results contradicted her initial story.

“I couldn’t really confront them, because they were gone,” Sallamondra Robinson said. “I spoke to the police. I did not speak to the other [again] because I didn’t see them anymore. They came [to our home] before the autopsy arrived. “
A WBTV news crew in North Carolina try recently to contact a fellow passenger of Robinson’s and approached her in a parking lot before asking her what happened to Shanquella Robinson.
The unidentified individual refused to answer the question and walked away.
“All I want is justice,” said Bernard Robinson. “I just want the Mexican authorities, the embassy, to do the right thing, to do it well. Because they came to their soil and did what they did and came back here.”

Legal experts have warned that the process of extradition of an American to Mexico in this situation could take time and justice could be slow to come.
“People need to understand that this is not going to be a quick process,” said Yolanda Trotman, a criminal defense attorney and former Mecklenburg County judge, he told WSOC-TV. “The extradition process takes some time. I think there will have to be a level of patience with people who want justice quickly and justice may not seem like what we are used to.”
