American R&B singer Patti LaBelle, known as the “godmother of soul,” was rushed off the stage of a Milwaukee, Wisconsin theater midway through her performance Saturday night, reportedly due to a bomb threat.
In video captured from the point of view of the audience at the Riverside Theater, LaBelle, 78, in an all-red dress, clips a bouquet as she speaks to the crowd through a microphone.
Security suddenly rushes to her side, and LaBelle, caught off guard, yells, “Wait” and “Wait!”
Three men all dressed in black force her to drop the flowers, and two of those security guards rush her backstage. Her musicians quickly follow as the crowd roars in confusion.
