An elderly Home Depot employee died Thursday from injuries he sustained in October when a robbery suspect pushed him while allegedly stealing three pressure washers.

The suspect was leaving the garden area of ​​the store on the morning of October 18 with a shopping cart full of stolen items when the clerk approached him.

Surveillance video released by the Hillsborough Police Department appears to show the suspect pushing the elderly man to the ground and running out of the store.

The victim died on December 1 due to complications from injuries sustained during the incident. A medical examiner ruled her death a homicide.

The Hillsborough Police Department is now searching for the suspect, described as a black male approximately 6 feet tall who fled in a white Hyundai Sonata. A temporary North Carolina tag on the vehicle was concealed.

Gary Rasor, the employee, celebrated his 83rd birthday while hospitalized for his injuries.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of our partner Gary. He was part of our team for over 9 years. He was an amazing friend, husband, father and grandfather, always willing to help anyone,” a Home Depot spokesperson told Fox. Digital News in a statement.

“At this time, our main concern is to support his family and our associates during this difficult time.”

His wife previously told WNCN that her husband recognized the suspect.

“He knows the guy is a thief. He’s been there, seen him in the store before,” he told the local news outlet. “And what he told me was that sometimes the guy buys one or two items to get a receipt, and then he adds more to his cart and shows the receipt.”
