After the Minority in Parliament blocked an allocation of GH¢80 million for the national cathedral in 2023, there is a plan to reach out to the diaspora community.

The cathedral project’s management board says one reason it is hosting a Bible reading event is to garner support from Ghanaians and Africans in the diaspora for the cash-strapped project.

The chairman of the board of directors, Professor Apostle Opoku Onyinah, explained that one of the objectives of the “Bible Reading and Holy Worship Marathon” is also to obtain financial support for Christians in the Diaspora.

“Ultimately, it will also be a way to reach out to the diaspora to support the National Cathedral project,” Class FM quoted the Apostle in a report.

Apostle Opoku Onyinah made the revelation on the first day of the Bible reading-a-thon, according to the report.

“It is our prayer that through the reading of the Bible and the worship service, we all come to understand the essence of the National Cathedral project and fully support it,” he emphasized.

He said the program is conceived as an initiative for the African diaspora to experience authentic Ghanaian Christian worship and builds on one of the distinctive aspects of Ghanaian and African Christianity, the vitality of their worship.
