A St. Louis, Missouri, Kentucky Fried Chicken employee was shot Monday night after a dispute escalated over the fast-food restaurant being out of corn, according to reports.

Fox station KTVI in St. Louis reported that the shooting happened around 6:30 p.m. at a KFC on Delmar Boulevard.

An employee of the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Delmar Boulevard in St. Louis, Missouri, was shot by a customer who became upset after being told the restaurant was out of corn.

Police said a black man in his 40s tried to place an order at the drive-thru when an employee told him the restaurant was out of corn.

The suspect then threatened the employee on loudspeaker before approaching the drive-thru window with a gun.

A 25-year-old employee reportedly came out to talk to the driver. When the employee returned to the restaurant, he had a gunshot wound.

The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was listed in critical but stable condition, police said.

After the victim was shot, the man, who is in his 40s and 50s with a slight build and scruffy beard, fled the scene.

Police said he was last seen wearing a jean jacket with a gray hood.
