Founded in 2019 by Jason Broadnax, an ‘army brat’ from Delray Beach, Florida, Moor Global is a Black-owned Florida travel agency that combines travel, real estate, and Afro-descendants from around the world. “Moor Global was created for Africans from across the diaspora to come together and reclaim all the great knowledge and wealth we had when the Moors ruled the world.
Broadnax explained that he chose the company name Moor Global to pay homage to the Moors who ruled the Iberian Peninsula for 800 years, black Muslims from Africa who brought technology, art and culture to that southern European region.
“We must start at the beginning with the moors. The Moors, who came from Africa, ruled Spain and Portugal for more than 800 years. They introduce many new advances in Europe in the areas of health, hygiene, culinary and new culture. The Moors also brought to the Europeans a great deal of new knowledge in the fields of mathematics, geography, agriculture, and philosophy. They introduced paper and the Arabic numeral system to Europe. It was through the Africans, the Moors, that the knowledge of China, India, Arabia and the Americas reached Europe,” he said.
Broadnax recalls that he was inspired to open his company after meeting black people from South America, the Caribbean and Africa while earning a business degree at North Carolina A&T.
“I was meeting all these people who look like me from all over the world. They told me about their cultures, families, and the homes they had in their homelands. This peaked my curiosity and, in a sense, started the creation of Moor Global.”
He said his motivation is to make this Florida black-owned travel agency a source to help build black wealth through African diaspora destinations and real estate around the world. To date, Moor Global has spread to 8 countries such as Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, Colombia, Costa Rica, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya and Egypt.
“Moor Global’s journey begins with an exuberant vacation to get to know that area and the locals. Followed by the acquisition of properties for vacation homes, retirement homes or rental properties. Moor Global does this by working with companies like I travel, Premier Gold Star and many others to make international travel and real estate accessible to all Africans in the diaspora,” he explained.
By making international travel and real estate accessible to all Blacks, Broadnax emphasizes that Moor Global helps provide economic opportunity to Black communities around the world, allowing it to maintain wealth within those communities throughout the world. world while exposing Black people in the US to new cultures, heritage and knowledge.
