LYLE FOSTER ERASES A LONG LASTING RECORD
Until today, Steven Pienaar was the most expensive South African footballer in history. The transfer of the Joburg-born midfielder in 2011 from Everton to Tottenham earned a fee of 3.6 million euros. (R67.6 million). The guaranteed fee Burnley will pay Westerlo for Kyle Foster’s services has broken this record. The Clarets, who are looking good in their run for promotion to the Premier League, have sealed a deal for Foster worth €7m upfront, with a further €3m in add-ons directly related to promotion to the EPL. If they succeed, Foster will advance by a staggering 187.7 million rand. That’s almost TRIPLE the rate of Pienaar some 12 years ago.

Burnley won’t be in the least bit bothered if they have to shell out that extra €3m because it will mean they are back in the big time. Mzansi football fans, can’t wait to see Foster ply his trade in the Premier League next season?
