Monrovia – Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman has initiated an ambitious campaign to solve cold cases and combat the rising tide of crime. His sweeping reforms not only address historical mysteries but also align with President Joseph Boakai’s commitment to delivering justice and security to the Liberian people.
Amidst a backdrop of unresolved cases that have haunted Liberia for years, Inspector General Coleman has taken decisive action.
Cases such as the Odell Sherman Case, Princess Cooper Case, and the enigmatic deaths of auditors are now under intense scrutiny, signaling a new era of transparency and accountability within the Liberian National Police.
“I’m pleased to announce to the public that the LNP has set up a whole Case e file unit. And we’re opening all of those investigations that are still pending to be able to give some closure to the family and to give them justice as the soon required,” declared Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman in a press conference that underscored the gravity of the initiative.
The specialized units have wasted no time, advancing investigations into significant incidents such as the discovery of a cache of arms at the Freeport of Monrovia and Brewerville. While details on the second investigation remain confidential, the approach to gathering information is a commitment to thorough and effective law enforcement.
Inspector General Coleman’s plea to the public for collaboration is a testament to the administration’s dedication to inclusivity.
Individuals with information on cases believed to have been inadequately investigated are urged to come forward, fostering an environment of shared responsibility in the pursuit of justice.
In addressing the surge in crime during transition periods, Coleman reassured the public of the police force’s resolute engagement. “We remain within our use of force continuum, but we will be aggressively engaging in the issue of crime,” he affirmed. The success in controlling armed robbery through proactive engagement, intelligence utilization, and targeted operations against criminal hideouts has bolstered confidence in the effectiveness of these measures.
Yet, challenges persist, particularly with a notable rise in motorcycle theft. The police force is actively seeking public assistance in addressing this specific concern, emphasizing a collaborative approach in tackling the intricacies of crime.
As Liberia stands at the cusp of transformative change in law enforcement, Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman’s initiatives resonate not only as a response to longstanding issues but as a political statement against the backdrop of past challenges. The public remains vigilant, anticipating updates on ongoing investigations and placing hope in the fulfillment of President Boakai’s vision for a safer and more just Liberia.
Inspector General Coleman’s decisive actions mark a pivotal moment in Liberia’s policing history, promising a future where justice prevails and the nation can move forward with renewed confidence in its law enforcement agencies
