The match, which ended 1-1 after regular time and extra time, saw Lofa emerge victorious 5-4 in penalties, displaying resilience and composure under pressure.

Lofa entered the semi-finals with high expectations after a dominant 4-0 win over Bong County, thanks to impressive performances from James Tarpeh and Emmanuel Flomo, who scored a brace in their previous match.

With such momentum, Lofa were ready for their semi-final showdown against Margibi.

Margibi, however, proved to be formidable opponents. Coming off a controversial quarter-final win against Nimba County, where they triumphed in a penalty shootout following disputed officiating and a disallowed goal, they were determined to challenge Lofa.

The match was a compelling clash of styles: Lofa’s high-pressure attacking play met Margibi’s disciplined defensive tactics, creating a thrilling contest.

When the final whistle blew, the score stood at 1-1, sending the game into penalties. There, Lofa showed calm under pressure, converting five out of seven penalties to secure their place in the final against Grand Gedeh.

The victory ignited wild celebrations among Lofa’s fans, who cheered their team as they advanced to the final. Lofa will now prepare for an exciting final against Grand Gedeh, with national glory within reach.

In other developments, the Grand Bassa kickball team also advanced to the final after a 1-1 draw with Grand Gedeh. Bassa triumphed in a penalty shootout, setting up a final against Grand Kru on Sunday.

The conclusion of the National County Sports Meet promises to be an exhilarating finale.
