Ecobank assured the FIA and the public of its willingness to cooperate with financial intelligence authorities to uphold Liberia’s financial integrity.

Monrovia – Ecobank Liberia Limited has complied with a request from the Financial Intelligence Agency of Liberia (FIA) to provide information related to the country’s Anti-Money Laundering, Countering the Financing of Terrorism, and Proliferation Financing (AML/CFT & PF) regime.

The bank’s action follows a recent request by the FIA. The request was based on Section 67.3 of the FIA Act of 2021, which grants the agency the authority to request, receive, and analyze relevant financial data.

In response, Ecobank Liberia reaffirmed its commitment to full compliance with regulatory requirements. The bank assured the FIA and the public of its willingness to cooperate with financial intelligence authorities to uphold Liberia’s financial integrity.

Mohammed A. Nasser, the FIA’s Officer-In-Charge, confirmed Ecobank’s compliance and reiterated the agency’s commitment to enforcing financial regulations. The compliance move by Ecobank comes as Liberia intensifies efforts to strengthen its financial oversight mechanisms and prevent illicit financial activities.

The FIA continues to work closely with banking institutions and other financial stakeholders to enforce transparency and accountability in Liberia’s financial sector.
