Monrovia—In the midst of ongoing political maneuvering within the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), party leaders convened a closed-door meeting at the residence of Deputy Speaker Thomas P. Fallah to address the potential removal of House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa.

By Gerald C. Koinyeneh

The meeting was trigggered by divisions within the party, with some Legislative members reportedly involved in efforts to unseat Speaker Koffa.

FrontPage Africa has gathered that the closed-door meeting was attended by key party figures—including Senator Nathaniel McGill, Secretary General Jefferson Koijee, party ideologue Samuel D. Tweah, and acting Youth Chair Eddy—the discussions aimed to solidify party unity and chart a way forward.

The meeting outcomes included a unanimous agreement for the CDC to issue a statement urging all representatives who signed a resolution for Speaker Koffa’s removal to rescind their decision and realign behind the Speaker.

Additionally, Deputy Speaker Fallah will publicly call on party members to respect the party’s mandate and work toward strengthening its numbers.

Also, the party announced plans to host a meeting at its headquarters ahead of the upcoming legislative session on Tuesday of next week—aiming to reinforce unity amongst its members.

It was also agreed that all stakeholders—including standard bearers, Senators, and influential partisans to reach out to CDC lawmakers to lend their support for the party’s objectives.

Recognizing the challenges of reuniting all party members, the meeting recommended a regional strategy to address the divisions.

The party’s top brass at the meeting consented that the details concerning the identities of CDC lawmakers who initially supported Speaker Koffa’s removal be released soon and those who played a role in electing these representatives to engage them in a supportive dialogue.

As the party seeks to bridge divides, the party encouraged the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and other influential leaders to remain committed to bolstering cooperation with members of the Independent Block, an essential task they deemed critical for party cohesion.

FrontPageAfrica also gathered that while attendees expressed optimism about potential resolutions, they acknowledged that diligent efforts must continue.

The meeting finished up with a consensus to focus on unity and collaboration with an urge to all members to refrain from personal attacks and accept collective responsibilities as they navigate the challenges ahead.
