Paris – Dr. Teeko Tozay Yorlay, Sr., Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to France, has presented his Letters of Credence to French President Emmanuel Macron at the Palais de l’Élysée.

In his address, Ambassador Yorlay extended warm greetings from Liberia’s President, Joseph Nyuma Boakai, and the Liberian people.
He expressed his gratitude for the warm reception he received upon his arrival and underscored the importance of the longstanding relationship between Liberia and France, based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared values of democracy, peace, and development.
“Liberia and France share a long history of friendship, cooperation, and shared values,” Ambassador Yorlay stated. “Our countries have collaborated in various fields such as education, health, trade, security, and global initiatives. France’s continued support for Liberia, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, has been deeply appreciated by my government and the people of Liberia.”
The Ambassador acknowledged France’s pivotal role in Liberia’s response to the pandemic, highlighting the donation of vaccines and medical equipment, which helped strengthen the country’s health sector.
He also expressed Liberia’s gratitude for the French Development Agency (ADF) and called for increased support for Liberia’s Agriculture, Roads, Rule of Law, Education, Sanitation, and Tourism (ARREST) Agenda for Inclusive Development (AAID).
In his speech, Ambassador Yorlay reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the historic relationship between the two nations. He emphasized the importance of bilateral trade and investment, fostering cultural and educational exchanges, and addressing global challenges such as climate change, security, and sustainable development.
Additionally, Ambassador Yorlay highlighted Liberia’s candidacy for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council and sought France’s support for Liberia’s bid.
He acknowledged France’s vital role in promoting global peace and security and expressed a desire to collaborate on security matters affecting the international community.
“I pledge to do my utmost to enhance the interests of our countries in the spirit of friendship, trust, and cooperation,” Ambassador Yorlay concluded. “With your support, I am confident that the relations between Liberia and France will continue to grow and reach new heights.”
