Africa has been described as the cradle of world civilization and the emerging global investment destination that can be achieved through unity and diplomatic cooperation among its nations.

The above were the remarks by Senate Chief Whip Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and the Republic of Djibouti on Saturday in Enugu, southeastern Nigeria, during a visit by the latter’s representative to the Abia State House during a tour of four days.

Hosted by Djiboutian National Assembly Speaker Mohamed Ali Houmed, Kalu drove his legislative counterpart from Enugu International Airport, where the Djiboutian parliamentarian and his entourage had arrived at the Enugu home of the prominent Djiboutian politician. Enugu, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa, where they were treated to a short reception.

In separate comments, all parties maintained that Africa will soon become the rallying point for investment, however, they stated that it can only be achieved through unity and the facilitation of deeper economic ties among African countries.

In his commentary, Senate President Orji Kalu asserted that civilization began in Africa and said the continent is poised to become the global rallying point for investment.

Kalu admitted that while like Nigeria, other countries are also experiencing economic difficulties, he stated, however, that such problems are not unique to Africa but to the whole world. The former governor identified the COVID-19 pandemic and the global depression as the main causes that, however, were not insurmountable for Africa.

“Africa is one, this is where civilization began and spread to other parts of the world. The new frontier for investment is Africa. I tell you with confidence that development is coming to Africa, but we must come together and come together as one despite our cultural and religious differences to achieve it.

“We have difficulties all over the world, during my travels abroad I have seen people complain bitterly about the difficulties even in the United States of America, so we must come and work together in Africa to solve our own problems because we have the resources and we are one. Kalu expressed.

Similarly, the Speaker of the Djibouti Parliament, Mohamed Houmed, thanked Kalu and Ohaa for hosting him and his entourage made up of his family members and associates. Houmed corroborated Kalu’s statements on the need for African Unity to accelerate the development of the continent.

Houmed called for deeper economic relations;

“In Africa, we are one from east to west, north and south. Our cultures may be different, but our goals to develop Africa are common. That is why I was not afraid to come with all my family and associates to Nigeria at the invitation of Kalu because for us this is also our home. We in Africa have the resources to build our continent for our own benefit, but we must come together to make it happen.

Chinyeaka Ohaa, former permanent federal secretary, expressed his thanks to the leader of the Senate for leading the delegation to his home and also thanked Houmed for coming.

Ohaa briefly explained the history of Enugu as the main city of the ancient eastern region to the foreign delegates. According to him, the state has produced notable personalities who greatly contributed to the development of the South-East and Nigeria in general.

Ohaa also sided with Kalu and Houmed on the need for Africa to come together, specifically mentioning that neighboring nations should share electrical power to boost power generation between them.

Kalu is billed to host the speaker, family and others from Djibouti for the New Year holidays at his camp Neya, Igbere country house.
