“I think they will find there is nothing there,” Biden told reporters as he toured storm damage in California. “I have no excuses. I am following what the lawyers have told me they want me to do. It is exactly what we are doing. There is no there there.”
Attorney General Merrick Garland last week appointed special counsel to investigate the matter after classified documents were found at Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware, and in a Washington, D.C., office he used before becoming president. . “We are fully cooperating and hope to resolve this quickly,” Biden said.
Biden said he has been doing what his lawyers told him to do after “a bunch of documents were filed in the wrong place.” He said the documents were immediately turned over to the National Archives after they were found.
The White House has been largely on the defensive since the initial revelations on January 9 that the documents had been discovered.

Biden’s legal team acknowledged last week that it had found classified documents related to his time as vice president in the Obama administration at his Delaware home, including some in his garage.
Aides previously found another batch of classified documents at his residence and at a Washington think tank he was associated with.
Biden expressed his annoyance when asked about the controversy as he toured the damage caused by storms that swept through much of California.
“I’ll answer your question, but here’s the deal. You know, what frankly bothers me is that we have a serious problem here that we’re talking about, talking about what’s going on. And the American people don’t quite understand why you don’t ask me questions about that,” he said.
