Join us to empower and uplift the African & Caribbean immigrant communities! AFRICOM is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Community Engagement Organizer to drive impactful change through strategic advocacy, equity, diversity, community empowerment, and grassroots initiatives. The Community Organizer will play a key role in fostering community engagement, building partnerships, and advocating for social justice by leveraging cultural awareness, community connections, and passion for positive change.

Key Responsibilities

The Community Organizer will work to empower and advocate for African & Caribbean communities, addressing their unique needs and fostering positive change. Specific duties include, but not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and implement community outreach and engagement strategies;
  • Identify and build relationships with community leaders and members;
  • Organize and facilitate meetings, events, and workshops to promote dialogue and collaboration within and among the African & Caribbean communities;
  • Utilize various communication channels, including social media, to disseminate information, raise awareness, and promote community events;
  • Build and maintain relationships with other community organizers, advocacy groups, and service providers;
  • Coordinate and lead advocacy campaigns on social and environmental issues;
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in community organizing, sociology, social work or related field
  • Experience in community organizing or related field
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills, organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and lead diverse groups of people.
