Iran has accused Prince Harry of committing a “war crime” after the Duke of Sussex admitted in his memoirs that he killed 25 Taliban fighters while in Afghanistan. Iran also criticized the UK saying the country was “not in a position to preach” on human rights as it itself was “turning a blind eye” to Prince Harry’s revelations.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry has criticized UK anger over the execution of a British-Iranian citizen, Alireza Akbari, accused of espionage by Tehran.
“The British regime, whose member of the royal family, sees the murder of 25 innocent people as a removal of chess pieces and has no regrets about the issue, and those who turn a blind eye to this war crime, are not in a position to preach to others about human rights,” read a tweet from Iran’s ministry.

Another tweet called the outrage “a sign of their evasion and violation of the law,” adding: “Britain’s intrusion into the national security of the Islamic Republic of Iran has received a decisive response from intelligence and the judiciary. Iranian”.
Prince Harry also faced strong backlash from politicians and UK Army veterans over the claim. In his memoirs, Prince Harry wrote that he was neither “satisfied” nor “embarrassed” by the death toll.
“They were chess pieces taken off the board, the bad guys eliminated before the good guys get killed. I was trained for ‘another’ them and they trained me well,” Prince Harry wrote.

Meanwhile Tory MP Tobias Ellwood said the admission could create security risks as it was “ill-advised”.
“I’m concerned that this has security implications,” Tobias Ellwood, adding: “One of the rare occasions I’ve worked with Prince Harry was at the Invictus Games in Sydney and in Toronto etc. Incredible effort. This was his design , this was his creation. And now I’m concerned that something that has been so important to veterans to help rehab is now going to be affected because there could be security implications if he’s involved in that.”
