Samsung has introduced its new premium range of S23 smartphones to bring the best smartphone experience to consumers. The new models offer something for everyone, from the flagship S23 Ultra to the premium S23+ to the standard S23.

The new era of Galaxy devices allow consumers to explore their creativity through their enhanced Nightography cameras; Delivers blazing-fast speeds powered by a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip; has extended battery life across the range; and there’s a built-in S-Pen for the S23 Ultra.

Most efficient chipset

Qualcomm, in partnership with Samsung, worked together to customize its new chipset – the most powerful and efficient chip in a Samsung Galaxy smartphone, and currently the fastest Snapdragon chip on the market.

Its superior performance paves the way for the future of mobile gaming with improved graphics that are 40% faster than the S22 Ultra, and its Neural Processing Unit is 40% optimized over before.

It also supports real-time ray tracing for more realistic renderings, so you can see highlights and shadows. The Ultra is equipped with Samsung’s Vapor Chamber to ensure you can game for hours without worrying about your device overheating.

A massive 200MP camera punch

The high-end S23 Ultra pushes the envelope with a Galaxy first: a 200MP adaptive pixel sensor for precise image capture. This is done by using pixel binning to support multiple levels of high-resolution rendering at once.

The new 200MP wide lens is joined by a 12MP ultra-wide, 2x 10MP dual pixel telephoto lens with variable zoom and a 12MP selfie camera.

Enhanced Nightography includes an AI engine that recognizes objects that can differentiate multiple layers in an image, such as glasses, facial hair, or curly hair, appearing clearer in images than before.

Its innovative AI optimizes photos and videos in low light conditions, making them sharper while actively eliminating noise. Improved stabilization with 2x wider OIS means improved videos compared to its predecessor.

The S23 range across all devices features fast autofocus and its first Super HDR selfie camera, taking it from 30fps to 60fps, for enhanced front-facing images and video.

The Expert RAW app will allow users to shoot directly from the app, a Galaxy exclusive, making it possible to capture and edit DSLR-like images in RAW or JPEG, without worrying about carrying bulky gear.

All video shot on the S23 range benefits from an all-round dual optical Image Stabilizer angle; recording in 8K at 30fps; and 360-degree audio, compatible with Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

S23 Ultra: the all-rounder

The Ultra comes with a built-in S-Pen to combine productivity, performance, and creativity. It’s suitable for any task at hand, from taking notes to doodling, annotating, and being productive on the go.

It has a 6.8-inch AMOLED screen made with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, with a resolution of 3088 x 1440. It supports a super-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, ranging from 1 to 120Hz.

The smart display also has a new vision boost feature that adapts the screen brightness based on the environment, with three different levels.

It is powered by 12 GB of RAM; 256 GB of storage that goes up to 1 TB; features Bluetooth 5.3; WiFi 6E and Ultra-Broadband connectivity. It has a 5000 mAh battery with super fast charging, fast wireless charging and wireless power sharing.

Introducing the S23+ and S23

Available alongside the Ultra is the S23+ and S23, for those who don’t need all the bells and whistles in a smartphone. The most notable improvement is the redesigned cameras: no bulge anymore.

The minimalist-looking S23+ and S23 now look more like the Ultra thanks to their design, plus it’s powered by the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset for Galaxy, making it an excellent value for consumers.

The cameras are identical, presenting a width of 50MP; 12MP ultra-wide angle; and a 10MP telephoto lens. Selfie camera boosts up to 12MP with Super HDR selfie mode; and the aforementioned Enhanced Nightography.

Customers can choose between the large 6.6-inch S23+ or the smaller 6.1-inch S23. Both have the same AMOLED FHD screen with a resolution of 2340 × 1080 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz (48-120 Hz). Both models now have a maximum brightness of 1750 nits and the brightness is adapted via a vision booster, as mentioned on the Ultra.

Both phones are powered by 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, and the S23+ offers a 512GB option; Bluetooth 5.3 and Wi-Fi 6E.

It also got a bigger battery this year, with the S23+ packing a 4,700mAh battery and the S23 packing a 3,900mAh battery. Supports fast wireless charging, super fast charging, and wireless power sharing.

The S23 range runs on Samsung’s Android 13 and One UI 5.1. The company promises four guaranteed generations of Android updates and five years of security updates.

For the first time, the entire range will be available in the same colours: Phantom Black, Green, Cream and Lavender.
