Murders at Idaho universities: the father of a student speaks
Steve Goncalves, father of slain University of Idaho student Kaylee Goncalves, joins ‘Fox & Friends’ to discuss the investigation into the University of Idaho murders and discusses his daughter’s life.
MOSCOW, Idaho – The father of one of the four University of Idaho students killed in his off-campus home on November 13 believes his daughter and best friend may have been targeted based on the alleged point of entry and output of the perpetrator.
Steven Goncalves, father of the late Kaylee Goncalves, 21, told “Fox & Friends” Sunday morning that the suspect’s alleged “entry and exit” was aimed through a sliding glass door or window in the second floor of the house, which meets a hill on the ground level in the backyard: “they are available without having to go up or down stairs.”
Goncalves and her childhood best friend, Madison Mogen, 21, were found dead on the third floor of the Moscow, Idaho, residence around noon on November 13, while victims Xana Kernodle, 20, and her boyfriend, 20 years old. -old Ethan Chapin, they were found on the second floor.
“I’m not a professional, so I want to specify that, but they said the entry point was the slider or the window. It was the middle floor. So, for me, he doesn’t have to go up the stairs,” Gonçalves said. “His Entry and exit are available without having to go up or down the stairs. He looks like he probably didn’t come downstairs. We don’t know for sure, but he obviously went up the stairs. So I’m using the logic that he chose to go up there when he didn’t have to.”

Her daughter’s text messages sent before the attack revealed to Goncalves that she was not afraid at the time, he added.

“So, I’m just putting the points together,” he said. “As far as investigators are concerned, they’re very discreet and they keep everything under control, and I understand that, and I’m probably not the right person to share all this stuff. So, I just trust… that your case is very strict. , and that they don’t really need to communicate with the community, and… all the evidence is right there in that house.”

the Moscow Police Department has maintained that the quadruple homicide three weeks ago was “an isolated and targeted attack,” but authorities also say it’s unclear whether the target was a specific victim or their residence in general. All four victims were stabbed to death and had been stabbed multiple times, while only “a few” victims had defensive wounds, according to the Latah County coroner.

The grieving father said he “cannot” specify whether he believes his daughter or any of the other victims were the targets of the attack.

“I asked permission to do just that and they told me no,” Goncalves said of the police. “I probably overrevealed information that they wish they hadn’t, but the story is cooling down. There are fewer people coming to Moscow. I’m not going to go to sleep in my bed knowing that I could get up and I could go to the city and I could do something, and I’m not leaving. I hate to be a pain, but as a parent, I can’t even sleep thinking I might be doing something.”

Goncalves also wants the police to share the alibis of certain individuals.

“Just share the alibi,” he said. “If he’s not sharing an alibi, to me, it tells me that he’s not 100% sure it’s going to stick.”

The father went on to describe Kaylee as a “hard worker” and a “Punky Brewster type of girl.”
“We missed a really smart person,” he said.
Goncalves and Mogen considered themselves sisters.

University of Idaho students who left campus for the Thanksgiving break were given the option to stay home and learn remotely rather than return to campus with a suspect still on the run.

The police also have to announce any kind of motive in the quadruple murder.
