The Plenary of the House of Representatives has forwarded to the Committees on Education and Public Administration, and Judiciary, a proposed law seeking the creation of a Community College in the City of Paynesville. The Joint Committee is expected to report in two weeks.
Plenary’s unanimous decision follows a communication from Montserrado County District #4 Representative Michael Thomas stated that the City of Paynesville needs a community college for high school graduates desiring a college degree and technical and vocational educational programs.
According to the Montserrado Lawmaker communication, the creation of a Community College in the City of Paynesville that hosts five (5) electoral districts that are densely populated with over 400,000 inhabitants, will make it unique in the service of the youthful population of our nation in all aspects of their personal development and nation-building consistent with the ARREST Agenda of the Government of the Republic of Liberia.
Rep. Thomas’ communication furthered that considering Article 6 of the Constitution of Liberia, he wishes to officially present to this 55th National Legislature the Bill to be cited as the “Paynesville Community College Act of 2024” for enactment.
“However, the creation of a Community College in the City of Paynesville that hosts five (5) electoral districts that are densely populated with over four hundred thousand (400,000) inhabitants, will make it unique in the service of the youthful population of our nation in all aspects of their personal development and nation-building consistent with the ARREST Agenda of the Government of the Republic of Liberia,” Rep. Thomas said.
“Considering Article 6 of the Constitution of Liberia, we wish to officially present to this 55th National Legislature the Bill to be cited as “Paynesville Community College Act of 2024” for enactment. We fervently hope this communication is given keen attention as we continue to exercise our oversight responsibility as the people’s deputies. With sentiments of our highest esteem, we remain.”
