Tshwane Emergency Services report that several roads around Centurion in Pretoria are flooded. A vehicle attempted to cross a flooded road near the Supersport Cricket Stadium in Centurion but was unable to cross.

The occupants managed to escape unharmed. Tshwane Emergency Services spokesman Charles Mabaso says torrential rains have also caused some low bridges in the town to close and some homes require water to be piped out of their homes.

He says Emergency Services and the Metropolitan Police are monitoring known hotspots and effecting road closures as necessary.
“Some households in the Mamelodi, Mooiplas, Nelmapius and Soshanguve areas have reported water-blocked patios and water entering the houses. No injuries were reported and Disaster Management is evaluating the situation.”

Disaster Management Teams in KwaZulu-Natal are on high alert in the northern parts of the province following a weather warning issued by the South African Weather Service.
The advisory states that severe weather conditions can be expected in these areas with an 80 percent chance of rain that could lead to localized flooding.

The warning comes at a time when various parts of the province are trying to recover after being affected by flooding earlier this week.
Spokesperson for the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Senzelwe Mzila, says: “COGTA Mec Sihle Zikalala has assured residents in these areas that teams are monitoring flood-prone areas. She has warned residents to ensure that all safety precautions are followed, as these weather conditions could cause localized flooding in several areas in the north of the province.”
