A staff member at a Georgia elementary school was arrested and fired after he left his bag containing a firearm in the school bathroom.
Quandra Johnson had left her bag in the staff bathroom at Oconee County Elementary School overnight Wednesday. The bag was discovered by another staff member Thursday morning before the students arrived at school and turned in to the main office.
A gun was later found inside the bag, according to the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office. The officers secured the weapon and removed it from the school grounds.

“We have no reason to believe that she intended to cause harm,” the sheriff’s office wrote in a news release. “As always, the safety of students and employees is our top priority.”

Johnson was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon within a school security zone.
She was also fired from her job at the school. Johnson did not have a teaching role at the school.
