A former foster father in Florida convicted of recording and sexually abusing children in his care was sentenced to 170 years in prison on Thursday.
The Justice Department said Justin Dwayne Johnson Sr., 48, of Sanford, Fla., was sentenced to federal prison on four counts of producing child sexual abuse material, one count of producing and attempting to produce sexual abuse material. child sexual abuse. , and one count of possession of child sexual abuse material.
Child Protective Services began an investigation into Johnson in January 2022 after he allegedly told an acquaintance that he was secretly videotaping his “naked” adoptive children.
He also reportedly said he had videos of him “touching the children,” according to the Justice Department.

Johnson has cared for more than 20 children in the past three years, Fox 35 Orlando reported.
When detectives checked Johnson’s phone, they said there were multiple images and videos of child sexual abuse material.
Eighteen children were identified as sexually exploited by Johnson. According to Law & Crime reports, the victims ranged in age from infancy to 16 years old.

“Instead of providing a haven for foster children, this predator betrayed children to a home of horrific abuse,” FBI Special Agent in Charge Tampa David Walker said, according to Fox 35. “The Group of The FBI’s Child Exploitation Work is committed to identifying, locating, and recovering innocent victims of sexual abuse and ensuring that their abusers are brought to justice.”
Johnson also reportedly took pictures of women’s skirts in numerous locations over the years.
Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith posted the following statement on Facebook after the sentence was announced:
“Johnson’s crimes are particularly troubling as he was in a position expected to provide protection and care for already vulnerable children, and he exploited that role and further victimized these young children. I hope his sentencing brings some comfort to whom he said has abused”.
