Florida police pulled over a woman who was allegedly about to drive her car down the route of a 5K race on Thanksgiving morning.
The St. Petersburg Police Department said Ashlee Lauren Morgan, 38, was driving her 2019 Range Rover Velar while going 60 miles per hour Thursday as she approached 21st Avenue NE, near the route of the Coffee Pot Turkey Trot. , according to FOX 13.
Police say the woman was stopped before driving her vehicle on the 5K route, which was closed to traffic.
According to an arrest report, Morgan was allegedly driving “recklessly” as he approached the route where some 3,000 people were participating in the 5K.

Police said in the court document that Morgan “refused, ignored commands to ‘Halt!’ and fled the scene of the stop at extremely high speed towards the actual race track, further endangering the lives of the runners/participants of the race.”
After attempting to run from police officers, the woman was eventually “forced” to stop at an intersection.

If police officers hadn’t stopped Morgan, authorities say he would have caused “a large number of casualties among race participants.”
When an officer tried to stop Morgan, she “put her hand in the air in a dismissive manner and also ran away from him,” the affidavit says.

Authorities also allege that after Morgan was arrested, he “repeatedly banged his head” against the window of a police cruiser, placing his feet “outside the rear driver’s side door” while refusing to put them back down. inside the car.
Authorities say they eventually pepper-sprayed her to get her to comply with police.
She is charged with leaving the scene of a property damage accident, two counts of fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and resisting an officer without violence.
