An eagle is now safe after it was struck by a lightning rod atop a 120-foot radio tower atop an elementary school in MacClenny, Florida.
Firefighters from the MacClenny Fire Department assisted wildlife authorities in ensuring the eagle was safely rescued, according to Fox 13.
“Great job guys. We are extremely proud of you and what a call. To be around America’s symbol of freedom, what a memory!” read a post on MFRD’s social media.

Upon arrival on scene, teams ascended to a height of 100 feet.

An engineer then climbed out of the fire truck’s stairwell and had to hook onto the tower to climb the remaining 20 feet.

Once freed from the rod, the eagle flew back down where wildlife rescuers ensured its safety.
