A Popeyes chicken restaurant in Detroit, Michigan was forced to close this week after a DoorDash driver posted video online showing cockroaches crawling through the store.

“They have cockroaches,” the driver said in one of the videos along with cockroach images crawling around the counter and around the food order. “Running everywhere.”

“I told the workers that they all went back there, they left,” says the woman. “They just laugh.”

A Popeyes spokesperson confirmed to Fox News Digital that the store, located on Detroit’s east side, was temporarily closed in response to the video.

“This is completely unacceptable!” said the spokesman. “This restaurant was run by an independent franchisee and has been closed until it can provide our guests with Popeyes standards and the service they deserve.”

The host told WXYZ-TV that she was “shocked” and “disgusted” by the incident.

“I just couldn’t believe they were open and working in those conditions,” the driver said.

An insect expert told WJBK-TV that German cockroaches are a “resistant pest” that usually stays in an area to feed on rotten food, but they probably initially hitchhiked into the store.
