KAKATA: Margibi County Senator James Emmanuel Nuquay has encouraged members of the 55th graduation class of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Mission High School in Kakata, Margibi County, to dare to be different.

The graduation ceremony took place on Sunday, November 24, in Kakata, and celebrated a remarkable achievement as all 138 senior students who sat the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) passed with flying colors.

Senator Nuquay spoke on the theme, “In Pursuit of Your Educational Sojourn, Dare to be Different,” emphasizing the importance of originality in a rapidly changing society filled with challenges and opportunities for innovation.

In his address, Senator Nuquay emphasized the importance of embracing individuality in an ever-evolving society where innovative solutions are essential.

“I find this subject particularly relevant to today, as people often compete based on their unique ideas while navigating complex challenges,” Senator Nuquay stated.

Stressing the significance of education, Senator Nuquay cited Malcolm X’s quote, saying, “Education is a passport to the future; for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today.”

The Margibi County lawmaker said, “Our decisions shape our futures, and education is a vital tool for achieving one’s goals.”

Senator Nuquay further encouraged the graduates to embrace being different, advising them to challenge themselves, take risks, and chart their paths rather than merely following the crowd.

He listed several attributes of being different, including personal accountability, positive attitude cultivation, and disciplined self-improvement.

“The journey doesn’t end here,” he remarked, urging graduates to recognize their potential to become future leaders and contributors to national development. “As I look at you, I see great medical doctors, engineers, and other professionals. However, success requires dedication and hard work.”

He further warned graduates to be mindful of their actions and how they present themselves. “Every day of your life is an exam,” he said. “You either pass or fail the test of life.”

Senator Nuquay, however, commended the institution for preparing its students and encouraged graduates’ parents to continue supporting their children morally and financially. “Your efforts will not be in vain,” he assured them.

Also, Senator Nuquay congratulated the Class of 2023/2024, expressing confidence that they would make their school proud in the years to come.

“May God bless us all,” he said, leaving the graduates with words of inspiration as they embark on their next chapter.
