You wouldn’t imagine a 109kg Springbok center would be caught dead near a piano practicing classical songs, would you? Wrong.

In a move that breaks with stereotypes, Sharks midfielder Rohan Janse van Rensburg was recently seen performing his rendition of Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi’s song. new white for your companions.

It turns out that the 28-year-old center, known for his ability to break tackles and break gain lines, has had a musical ear since he learned to play guitar at Waterkloof High School.

“I learned guitar when I was at school, so I played the guitar for a long time,” Janse van Rensburg told News24.

“I recently started playing the piano. I’m trying to learn as much as I can.

“I’m on the piano now most of the time. I’m trying to learn good classical songs.

“I play the guitar when the family is around and they want me to sing them a song.”

the title of the song new white means “white clouds” in Italian and the composer, Einaudi’s works are known for their message of awareness and peace. Talk about a big fish out of water.

On the pitch, the Sharks prepare to play Bordeaux in the Champions Cup at Kings Park on Saturday (5:15 p.m. kick-off).
