An Arizona woman is facing 43 counts of animal cruelty after allegations of hoarding of animals at two different homes led police to discover that the residences were covered in urine, feces and trash, police said.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office Animal Enforcement Division investigated hoarding of animals at two different residences in Dolan Springs, both of which were used by 77-year-old Betty Lynn Fuchsel.
Arizona police arrested Betty Lynn Fuchsel for allegedly neglecting at least 43 dogs, who were locked inside residences and vehicles without access to food or water.

The department also received reports that the animals were running around and attacking livestock in the area.

The sheriff’s office said in a news release that Fuchsel received multiple citations for the violations and failed to appear in court or comply, ultimately leading to her arrest on Jan. 11.
After his arrest, the sheriff’s office secured and executed search warrants for both Fuchsel residences.
When agents entered both locations, they reported seeing the floors covered in feces, trash, and urine.

Police said several dogs were locked inside the residence and in vehicles on the property without access to food or water.
In all, the sheriff’s office seized 43 dogs, which were emaciated and in various stages of neglect.

Many dogs were taken in for emergency veterinary care, while all the animals were turned over to the Mohave County Animal Shelter.
Fuchsel was charged with 43 counts of felony animal cruelty.
