The world’s largest Afrobeats festival, Afro Nations, returns home. On Wednesday, the festival announced the return via its social media platforms following the 2019 launch event in Ghana.
Established to unite the movement in celebrating black joy, Afro Nation Ghana reaches a site of cultural significance. Taking place in Black Star Square, the capital of West Africa will be home to the biggest names and rising stars, while thousands will be able to experience its extraordinary connection to Accra and the African continent.
In a statement, the festival organizers said the standard and experience will be like the recent one that took place in Portugal.
“As with Afro Nation Portugal and Afro Nation Puerto Rico, Afro Nation Ghana will train local teams to produce the show and bring business to as many local vendors as possible, making a positive impact on Ghana’s cultural and tourism economy,” organizers said in a statement.
“We started Afro Nation to provide a global platform for the artists we love. After just four shows, we have seen more than 150 live performances in front of more than 100,000 people on three different continents: Africa, Europe and America.
“Afrobeats is a special genre, not only uniting the diaspora but connecting nations in a truly unique way. Our commitment to Afrobeats goes beyond the Afro Nation festival.”
Afro Nation Ghana will take place on December 29-30 at Marine Drive, Black Star Square in Accra. The lineup is expected to be announced soon.
