An armed military veteran who worked at a Georgia food bank assisted police by holding a suspect who was being pursued by officers at gunpoint until they arrived.

William Joyner, a quick-thinking manager at Feeding GA Families and a military veteran, sprang into action Monday night in College Park, Georgia, when a suspect being pursued by police rushed through the parking lot of the food bank with a gun. WAGA-TV reported.

After being told about the situation by a co-worker, Joyner grabbed her gun, reloaded it, and ran out to help.

Joyner can be seen on security footage running outside with her gun drawn before confronting the suspect.

“I told him to get on the ground, the police are on their way,” Joyner told WAGA-TV reporter Rob DiRienzo. “Just get on your knees with your hands up.”

The suspect, identified by police as 20-year-old Jordan Shelley, refused to show his other hand, according to Joyner.

At that moment, a College Park police officer came around the corner with a Taser and arrested the suspect.
