A 14-year-old girl from southeastern Michigan was stabbed to death after refusing to have sex with an 18-year-old western Illinois man she met on social media.
Deputies were called to the girl’s home in Springfield Township around midnight Wednesday, where she was bleeding from injuries to her back and abdomen, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

He was expected to undergo surgery on Wednesday.
A 14-year-old Michigan girl was stabbed to death by an Illinois man she met online after refusing to have sex with him.
Agents said the girl’s younger brother was asleep at the time of the attack and her parents were not home. The girl contacted her parents after the stabbing and they ran home and called 911.

The man, from Monmouth, Illinois, fled but was arrested after calling 911. He told deputies he was upset when the girl refused to have sex with him, the sheriff’s office said.

Monmouth is about 470 miles southwest of Springfield Township, which is northwest of Detroit.
