An Indiana man was arrested over the weekend after a boy, allegedly his son, was seen brandishing and pointing a gun outside his apartment.

Shane Osborne, 45, a resident of the Indianapolis suburb of Beech Grove, faces one felony charge of neglect of a dependent child. The arrest was captured on the reality television show “On Patrol: Live,” which follows law enforcement officers on duty.

Authorities responded Saturday to a 911 call made by a neighbor at the apartment building where the boy was holding the gun in a hallway.

The boy, who was not identified, appears to be waving the gun and pulling the trigger. There were no bullets in the chamber of the gun, police said. He didn’t seem to be damaged.

“It’s almost incomprehensible what you’re seeing,” Beech Grove Deputy Police Chief Robert Mercuri said. “I saw it the next day and even though I knew the result, as I was watching the video, I was still scared. You find yourself holding your breath. I don’t know how you can’t watch that video, father.” or not be a parent and not be surprised and upset.

When questioned by police, Osborne allegedly said that he did not have a weapon. However, when officers looked at surveillance video of the home provided by a neighbor, they allegedly saw the boy alone in a hallway playing with a gun, the TV series said in a news release.

“Looking at that video, ohhhh, you can’t, you can’t stop watching it,” neighbor Nicole Summers told WTHR-TV. “He just kept saying, ‘pow, pow, pow, pow.'”

Authorities seized a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic pistol from Osborne and took him into custody, Fox 59 reported.

A magazine with 15 bullets inside was also taken and the boy was returned to his mother.

Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley said he was “mortified” by the incident.

“I received a notification from our police chief shortly after this incident occurred,” he said in a statement, WTHR-TV reported. “As with all of you, I am mortified by what happened and I am very grateful that no one was hurt, especially the little boy.”
