Kagiso Rabada stretches out in front of the fans at the MCG.
Proteas may have worked without success on a hot day two of the second Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, but Kagiso Rabada also provided a heartwarming moment.
Fielding where the old Bay 13 used to be at the MCG, Rabada did his Merv Hughes impersonation by stretching out in front of the crowd.
The Bay 13 area is now part of the Grand South Grandstand, but the crowd also reciprocated by copying the Rabada stages.
They also did the same for Anrich Nortje in what was a successful day for the Aussies, thanks to David Warner’s unbeaten double ton as the hosts added on 386/3.
It gave them a lead of 197, which is more than the 189 South Africa made in their first innings.
Rabada (1/94) did not have his best days with the ball, but Nortje (1/50) bowled with speed and hostility so that the Proteas continued to fight.
