A Texas homeowner was blindsided after an unexpected and unwanted guest broke into her home and stole a bottle of wine and Gatorade from her refrigerator.
North Austin homeowner Sloan Foster was alerted to an intruder after she heard her back door open around 7:30 a.m. Friday.
“I heard some commotion and I have big burrows coming down and branches so I always have noise but this seemed a bit unusual,” Foster told Fox 7.
Sloan Foster said around 7:30 am Friday that she heard someone come in through the back door. After investigating the commotion, she noticed that her kitchen refrigerator was open.

When he went to investigate the unusual noise, he found his refrigerator open.
“This was open, and I usually have Gatorade right here where my drinks are and when I saw this door open,” Foster said.
It was then that Foster realized that someone was inside his house.

“I started asking the person to announce themselves and throwing all kinds of expletives asking who, why,” Foster said.
Across from her was a man approximately 5’9″ wearing a black Adidas sweatshirt, black jeans, and no shoes.
He told her that he entered her house because the back door was open.
“Just complete and utter shock that someone is in my house and in my space and how they got in here, and they felt comfortable enough, like you said, to walk in my backyard and walk into my house at 7:30 in the morning. tomorrow and risk me being here,” Foster said.
Foster said the man had a bottle of wine and a Gatorade in his hands.
“He said I don’t have anything, he claimed the Gatorade was his, even though I knew it wasn’t, but I didn’t want half drunk Gatorade, I really wanted the wine back,” Foster said.

She wanted him out of her house immediately.
“He told me not to shoot him, and I was out of luck, and I told him he had three seconds to get out of my house, or I’d shoot him,” Foster said.

Foster said she has lived in her house for about 12 years and has never experienced anything like it before.
Now, the Austin homeowner is warning her neighbors to stay vigilant and keep their doors locked at all times.
“Everyone needs to increase their vigilance, lock doors at all times, just be more aware, and the most important thing is to have a voice, use it, yell, say get out, give instructions.”
A North Austin resident is encouraging neighbors to be careful after a man walked in through the back door and tried to make himself at home while she was there.

Since the incident, Foster has been taking home security more seriously. She ordered a lock for her door, signs for her front yard, and remembers to always keep her doors locked.

“Luckily for me, he wasn’t him to hurt me, he didn’t show up, the next person probably won’t be so lucky if he walks in,” Foster said.
