The club have been interested in Leao since he moved from French club Lille to AC Milan. They are also quite impressed by Leao’s performance in the recent game between Portugal and Switzerland on Sunday. Although it was a late challenge for Leao, he scored a goal cutting down the left side, taking goalkeeper Yann Sommer by surprise. His agility in the game earned him admiration in the eyes of sports gurus Ian Wright and Gary Neville. Neville exclaimed that the attacker’s goal was strange enough without a deflection. He also said it was a brilliant effort on his part to score a goal into the far corner of the net.
Wright went on to explain that Leao had the perfect composure to hit the ball at the correct angle, after zipping past the defender.
If the deal with Chelsea comes to fruition, Leao will join the team with another rookie, Christopher Nkunka of RB Leipzig.
On the contrary, other reports suggest that Leao could extend his contract with FC Milan. He also described his recent conversations with the director as positive. He added that he will take things to the next step after the World Cup.
With such conflicting reports, Chelsea fans will have to wait until the conclusion of the World Cup to see if another first-choice attacker joins the club.
