A man in the UK has been arrested after allegedly throwing an egg at King Charles III while the monarch was visiting a city center on Tuesday, British authorities said.
The man in his 20s was being questioned about the alleged common assault, Bedfordshire Police said.
Charles, 74, was meeting members of the public outside Luton Town Hall, 30 miles north of London, when the shell appeared to have been launched. His security guards moved him to a different area and he returned to shake hands with the public.
He was due to visit several sites in Luton on Tuesday, including a transit station and a Sikh house of worship, a gurdwara.
