This week I will travel to Morocco, Ghana and South Africa to promote Australia’s foreign policy, security and economic interests in Africa.
The Australian Government is revitalizing our relations in Africa, and this will be the first visit to the African continent by an Australian Foreign Minister or Foreign Minister since 2016.
African nations are influential voices on issues of importance to Australia, our region and the world.
Africa also represents significant business diversification opportunities for Australian companies.
During my visit, I will champion our shared interests in an international system based on rules and alliances to help combat global terrorism, violent extremism, cybersecurity threats, and transnational crime.
I will discuss practical action against climate change and identify ways to strengthen our cooperation with African partners in agricultural development, renewable energy, and science and technology.
I will also use my visit to promote Australia’s green energy and education capabilities, and the expansion of existing mining and energy investment in high-potential industries such as critical mineral processing.
I look forward to hearing from government ministers, community leaders, the business community and multilateral organisations, discussing our shared interests and increasing Australia’s connections with African nations.
