Eskom CEO, André de Ruyter.
State power utility Eskom has denied claims that it is delaying the State Security Agency (SSA) vetting process for CEO André de Ruyter and other executives, saying it was trying to complete the process as quickly as possible. possible.
The Mail and Guardian reported that the Presidency’s Deputy Minister for State Security, Zizi Kodwa, told parliament’s Standing Committee on Public Accounts on Wednesday that De Ruyter had not been fully vetted because he had not provided all the information requested by the SSA.
“Mr. De Ruyter promised us that he will deliver the pending documents to us at the beginning of June,” Kodwa was quoted as saying by the publication.
Eskom said Wednesday that it was not aware of any requests for documentation from the SSA since June.
“It was not until October 2022 that Eskom received the investigative documents [Z204 forms] to be prosecuted by the CEO, who has been in this role since January 2020, and other executives,” said spokesman Sikonathi Mantshantsha.
“Eskom has been updating Parliament on delays in this process regularly for the last three years. It is therefore inaccurate to say that Eskom has delayed the vetting process of its executives.
“Since receipt of this form, the executive team vetting process has begun in earnest, and Eskom will do everything possible to complete this process as soon as possible.”
