The petition calls for Polis to order BPD to “transfer all DNA samples and crime scene evidence it may contain samples to an independent, outside agency of its choosing,” which “would then work with a private forensics lab, such as Othram or Parabon Nanolabs, which uses proven, state-of-the-art technology to analyze and sequence these samples,” Rasmey wrote in his letter.

“[T]The FBI told us this six or eight months ago: ‘We don’t have the latest technology that’s only available from these outside labs,’ and that’s where we need to go. He’s hoping to hear more about a fellow Boulder, Colo., father who recently spoke to the US Sun about his daughter’s sexual assault case that has similarities to the JonBenet murder case.
FOUND: MELISSA HIGHSMITH’S FAMILY ‘OVERJOY’ AFTER REUNITED WITH HER KIDNAPPED SISTER IN 1971
The father identified himself only as “Amy’s father” in the US Sun and in a 2004 CBS article. The victim, Amy, was sexually assaulted by an unknown suspect who broke into her family home, and her bedroom , on the night of September 14, 1997. The girl reportedly attended the same Boulder dance school as JonBenet, the late private investigator Pete. Peterson told CBS 18 years ago.
JonBenet Ramsey would have turned 32 on Saturday, August 6, 2022.

“The first thing that occurred to us was that it was a parallel to the Ramsey case because it was the exact same situation,” Amy’s father told CBS. “I think someone, somewhere, targeted her. She obviously had us under surveillance that we didn’t know about.”
BPD said they found out about the 1997 case after the US Sun report. Amy’s father and Ramsey share similar frustrations with BPD investigations into their daughters’ respective cases.
“They were completely uninterested,” Amy’s father told the outlet. “They didn’t care about this at all…they were just lying, telling us they would look into this or that, but they didn’t.”

Ramsey doesn’t know who “Amy’s father” is, but has read about him online. He told Fox News Digital that BPD “dropped the ball” in both cases, and believes Amy’s story “needs to be highlighted” because of the similarities it shares with his daughter’s murder case, even though Amy she was not murdered.
