Tsholofelo Poo, the mother of the murdered four-year-old Bokgabo Poo, will never hear her baby’s voice again.
“I wake up and it still feels like a dream,” he told reporters Tuesday outside the Benoni Magistrate Court, where the man accused of killing his daughter made a brief appearance.
“You pinch yourself, and the next day it’s the reality that you can’t hear that voice and you can’t tuck it in. This is a pain and a scar that I will live with for the rest of my life and I can’t take it off,” she said.
The alleged killer, Ntokozo Khulekani Zikhali, 28, faces charges of kidnapping, rape, murder and rape of a corpse.
He was out on bail for the rape of another young child when Bokgabo was killed.
Zikhali was arrested on November 7, 2021 after allegedly raping a nine-year-old girl.
Both matters are being known at the same time.

The prosecutor, Elizabeth Bisi, told the court that investigations into both cases had been completed.
The matter was adjourned until March 30 because the court was awaiting further instructions from the Director of the Public Ministry.
Bokgabo was abducted from Masolen Park in Wattville, Benoni, on October 9, 2022.
The park will be renamed in his honor.

“It has to be very safe for children. I would expect the city to have proper fencing, proper surveillance and people to watch the children while they play in the park,” Poo said.
Residents discovered mutilated body parts of the boy in Tamboville, which is also located on Gauteng’s East Rand.
Ntokozo Zikhali, the man accused of murdering Bokgabo Poo, appeared before the Benoni Magistrate Court on 14 February.

Some of its remains are still missing.
“We are still hoping to find the rest of her body, an arm and a leg, and obviously the internal parts that were taken out…she too was burned after she was killed,” said Father Themba Seya, a spiritual supporter of the family.
“If the truth comes out, then we can heal, we can forgive. You can’t forgive without the truth.”
