On Tuesday morning, Pam Golding Properties sent out a unique “just listed” promotion for a (very) small slice of Cape Town real estate: an 18m² garage in a complex on Victory Road in Bantry Bay.
You would have to pay R473 a month in levies, the brochure said, plus an initial price of R2.2 million.
Now, if you’re not familiar with that stretch of coast, that price may seem high. But open-air parking spots regularly sell for over R1 million in neighboring Clifton, especially if they come with private beach access, and have for years.

The 2.2 million rand garage is on the wrong side of the road for beach access, but on a stretch with very, very few parking options and very, very expensive real estate. You can pay over 10 million rand for a two-bedroom apartment on Cliffside, across the road, but if you’re an “international jet-setter” for whom it’s apparently ideal, you’ll have to make do with just one open car park. bay, leaving any car that suits that lifestyle to the mercy of the elements.
And if you think locals are too wealthy to cross the street to park their cars, think again. Even for over R26 million, that’s exactly what some of them have to do in Bantry Bay.
So even at a price of R122,000 per square meter, the new listing didn’t need a hard sell. “Plenty of storage, secure and sought after,” said Pam Golding’s sales team.
But when contacted by Business Insider South Africa for more details, the property had been removed, an agent said.
