A woman in Colorado has been arrested and charged after allegedly trying to kidnap a toddler from a mother inside a Walmart, but was stopped by quick shoppers.

Alamosa City, Colorado posted on facebook that the police department responded to a call of an ongoing kidnapping Thursday and discovered that a woman had grabbed a child that did not belong to her from a shopping cart.

“Due to the quick actions of citizens inside the store at the time of the incident, they were able to contain the suspect until police arrived and safely reunited the toddler with the parents,” the publication said.

The suspect has been identified as Kimberli Jones, 50, of Blanca, Colorado.

Jones has been charged with kidnapping, threats, child abuse and disorderly conduct.

The kidnapping, threatening and child abuse charges are felonies, while the disorderly conduct charge is a misdemeanor.

Police say the crime was an isolated incident and the public should not be concerned.

“The Alamosa Police Department would like to thank the brave citizens, Wal-Mart staff and the community for the quick response and for being vigilant,” the post said.

The Alamosa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to Fox News Digital that Jones is currently being held at the Alamosa County Detention Center.
