Three former Texas high school student-athletes have died in a serious crash after a police chase, according to a report.
Phabian Bynaum, 19, Davarius Bynaum, 20, and Malik Thomas, 21, who previously attended Cameron High School, were killed in the crash Thursday.
Phabian Bynaum was driving more than 20 miles over the speed limit on US 190 between Cameron and Milano, Milam County Sheriff Mike Clore told FOX 7 Austin. He said one of his helpers tried to stop the vehicle without success and a chase began.
Bynaum lost control of the vehicle while trying to pass another car, according to a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety. The vehicle then crashed into a tree, drove through a fence, overturned and caught fire in a field.

“This affected families, but it also affected our community here. Every child belonged to all of us. These are our children, our babies,” a speaker said at a prayer vigil on Friday.

Cameron ISD Superintendent Kevin Sprinkles said counselors would be available to students and staff at each of the district’s schools.
A police chase in Milam County ended in a fierce crash on Highway 190 near Milano, Texas. Three former Cameron High School student-athletes were killed in that accident.

Texas state law requires motorists to pull to the right side of the road and stop when approached by an emergency vehicle with its lights and sirens activated.
“Attempting to evade law enforcement in a motor vehicle is not only a felony, but it puts everyone on the roads in danger,” a TXDPS spokesperson said.
