There have been a series of explosions and fires around Iranian military, nuclear and industrial facilities in recent years.
In July, Iran said it had arrested a sabotage team made up of Kurdish militants working for Israel and planned to blow up a “sensitive” defense industrial center in Isfahan.
The announcement came amid rising tensions with arch-enemy Israel over Tehran’s nuclear program. Israel says that Iran is trying to develop nuclear weapons. Tehran denies it.
The explosion comes as talks between the United States and Iran appear to have stalled over a renegotiated nuclear deal between the two countries.
